Bendix Mouldings
was incorporated in 1924, though we have traced the Bendix family
genealogy and found that they were producing mouldings in Germany
as far back as 1854. We could back no further than 1854 as the
family records were lost in a fire in a small church in Bavaria.
One of the
Bendix family nephews did come to the U.S. before the turn of
the century and started to sell decorative wood mouldings to the
furniture industry, which was then centered in NYC and Philadelphia.
After incorporated in 1924, they extended the line of decorative
mouldings, and sold it to cabinet makers, furniture makers, lumber
yards, etc. Some of the same designs sold in 1924 are still being
sold today.
Once located in Manhattan, the company moved to the Bronx, and
then to Northvale, N.J. in 1972, and then to Orangeburg, N.Y.
in 1989, and finally to our present New Jersey location. Over
the years, we have extended our buying products to include countries
such as Indonesia, Brazil, Taiwan, China, Thailand, England,
Spain and Italy ... and we currently have over 2000 items in
our line which we offer throughout North America and Central
America, including the Caribbean Islands.
We recently
added a line of hand-carved wood corbels, drops, appliqués
and ornaments made in China. These are currently sold to home
builders, cabinet makers, furniture makers, lumber yards, and
do-it-yourself home centers such as Lowes. We offer a service
of custom carving for our customers who need specialized items
for their building requirements, and we work with many woods,
per the customers' specifications.
